Sokoto LG Chairmen back Aliyu’s agenda, assure effective budget delivery

Local Government Chairmen in Sokoto State have reaffirmed their support for Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s “Nine-Point Smart Agenda,” pledging their commitment to the effective implementation of their proposed 2026 budgets.
​The chairmen made this declaration on Tuesday in Sokoto following the defense of their budget proposals before the State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Community Development.
​Alhaji Zubairu Yari, Chairman of Goronyo LGA, presented a budget exceeding N8 billion.
He emphasized that the council would prioritize security and grassroots development, noting that the Governor’s agenda provides a clear roadmap for local governance.
​“We appreciate the governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to improving the lives of citizens, especially in rural communities,” Yari stated.
Similarly, Alhaji Buhari Kurdilla, Chairman of Gudu LGA, proposed a N7.4 billion budget.
He identified security as a top priority given the council’s strategic location, adding that the proposal aligns with state-wide focuses on youth empowerment, ​education, ​agriculture, healthcare infrastructure and economic expansion.
​Alhaji Isah Kalanjeni, Chairman of Tangaza LGA, presented a N7.6 billion budget. He described the Nine-Point Agenda as a guiding framework for rural infrastructure and communication.
​“Road development and youth empowerment are key to boosting economic activities in rural areas,” Kalanjeni noted.
​In a similar vein, Alhaji Muhammad Dingyadi of Bodinga LGA proposed N7.7 billion, stating that his administration would focus on commercial development to boost Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
​Other local leaders who presented budgets exceeding N7 billion included:
​Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad (Silame LGA): Commended the Governor’s performance as a foundation for financial prudence.
Similarly, Alhaji Aminu Bodai, (Dange-Shuni LGA), pledged to sustain the delivery of democratic dividends.
Not left out, ​Alhaji Maidawa Kajiji (Shagari LGA), noted that residents have already significantly benefited from the alignment of local programs with the state’s core agenda.
​The chairmen collectively reiterated their commitment to policies that enhance security, stimulate economic growth, and foster overall development at the grassroots level.
