From Bashir Rabe Mani, Sokoto

The Sokoto State Government has launched an emergency medical intervention in Kurawa, Sabon Birni Local Government Area, following the outbreak of a mysterious illness that has left local healthcare facilities struggling to cope.
Leading the state’s high-powered response, Deputy Governor Engr. Idris Muhammad Gobir arrived in the affected community yesterday alongside Hon. Saidu Delege, representing Sabon Birni South, to oversee the deployment of life-saving resources.
Faced with reports of a “sudden onset” affliction that has rapidly spread through the village, the government delegation did not arrive empty-handed. The intervention package include; emergency stocks -a significant supply of essential drugs and medical consumables, expert reinforcement- a specialized team of healthcare professionals to support the overwhelmed local clinic, and scientific probe- deployment of epidemiologists from the Ministry of Health to collect biological samples for laboratory analysis.
During a direct assessment of the affected families, Engr. Gobir offered strong words of reassurance to the people of Kurawa.
He emphasized that the administration is fully committed to uncovering the cause of the ailment and restoring health to the region.
“The government will provide continued support until this outbreak is fully contained,” the Deputy Governor pledged, affirming that the state’s resources are fully behind the community.
While health authorities have yet to confirm any fatalities, the Ministry of Health has placed the area under close surveillance. As the state awaits laboratory results to identify the specific pathogen or cause, residents are being urged to report immediately, so as to seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms to ensure early treatment as well as maintain strict sanitary standards to prevent potential person-to-person transmission.
The Ministry of Health is expected to release a comprehensive report once the epidemiological findings are finalized.
