Solidaridad has greatly impacted on the lives of small holder farmers in Nigeria, Solidaridad Network Senior Climate Specialist for Africa Dr. Samson Samuel Ogallah has said.
Dr. Ogallah who made this known in Abuja Friday during the celebration of Solidaridad 50th birthday stated that Solidaridad was founded in 1969 by Catholic bishops in Netherlands and has transformed lives in five continents it is working presently.
Ogallah said they create prosperity through support in agriculture, SMEs in the oil palm sector and the service industry to propel the oil palm sector to achieve self-sufficiency.
He said that Solidaridad has identified and selected some SMEs to be supported to develop various business models for the oil palm sector.
Continuing, he said that SWAPP II provides technical services and institutional support for the wide-scale adoption of Best Management Practices (BMP) in the cultivation and milling sub-sectors to the SMES adding that it facilitates access to finance for the establishment and operation of SMEs in farm support services.
Ogallah informed that Agro Quorum Enterprise is one of such companies already providing services in the oil palm.
He noted that Solidaridad West Africa is an experienced regional-based, solution-oriented civil society organization that promotes inclusive sustainable development focusing on improving the wellbeing of farmers, miners and their communities in West Africa through the promotion of climate-smart agriculture and partnerships.
He noted that their intervention is in cocoa, oil palm, artisanal mining and food security developments.
