Soludo wins Anambra Governorship election for second term

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the Nov. 8 governorship election in Anambra with 422,664 votes.

Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, made the declaration at the commission’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.

Announcing the results, Omoregie said that Soludo polled 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief Nichols Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 99,445 votes.

Mr Paul Chukwuma, the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) secured 37,753 votes.

The Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu scored 10,576 votes, John Nwosu, of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) polled 8,208 votes.
