A front runner in the race for the Speakership seat of the 10th House of Representatives, Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, has commenced open consultations with relevant stakeholders across party lines as he met with the Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti in Lagos to sell his candidacy.
This is coming after the former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, rounded off series of private engagements with the ruling Party leaders and caucuses across the country seeking their support.
Speaking to Journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, Hon. Gagdi who currently chairs the House committee on Navy said he has taken the consultations across party line, meeting with stakeholders of opposition parties with a view to building a consensus ahead of the June inauguration.
The lawmaker disclosed that in just two public outings between Tuesday and Wednesday, he has scored a milestone getting the support of Dr. Otti and those of other Labour Party members-elect.
He also said he moved from Lagos to the Coal City of Enugu, South East Nigeria where he met with the Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Chief Chijioke Edeoga and other party stakeholders, as well as Members-elect from the state.
“In a much as I’m aspiring to be the speaker of the House of Representatives for the 10th Assembly. I equally want to follow the modus operandi of my campaign strategy where I have itinerary of activities and by the special grace of God in the next two weeks, I will unveil to you the array of commitment and activities that I’m going to do in addition to what I have done so far. Which is silent consultation with all stakeholders of different platform in terms of political parties and citizens of this country that have a stake in decision making of who becomes the Speaker.”
