Governor Godswill Akpabio has confirmed that the Akwa Ibom Government has entered into a 10-year agreement with Julius Berger, for the maintenance of the new Akwa Ibom International Stadium.
The majestic stadium is expected to be commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan on November 6. President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick had last Thursday led a delegation to Uyo to inspect the new stadium which was constructed and completed by Akpabio’s administration.
“I must commend Julius Berger and congratulate the leadership of the new NFF President,” Akpabio said.
“This project is our modest contribution towards athletics and the game of sports. The stadium is built with sophisticated facilities and it is a project that has challenged governance in Nigeria”.
“So, I call on NFF to use the stadium in the best way to give Nigeria a good image and I must let you know that training pitches are available in the state for athletics.”
