Stakeholders endorse late President Buhari’s only son for Reps seat

A new push to drag the only son of late President Muhammadu Buhari into partisan politics is gathering momentum in Katsina State, especially in Daura area, where the late former Nigerian President hailed from.

The agitation is said to be actively pushed by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who has allegedly anointed the taciturn Yusuf Buhari as the APC candidate for Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency.

Those pushing the agenda have begun to publicly take a decision endorsing Yusuf Buhari as the All Progressives Congress (APC) favourite candidate.

The first of such endorsements was taken by APC stakeholders in Sandamu Local Government Area on Wednesday during a high-level meeting held at the Sandamu Local Government secretariat attended by elected officials and political appointees.

The stakeholders said they would support Yusuf Buhari as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Addressing the participants, the council chairman, Usman Nalado, said the endorsement of Yusuf Buhari was a collective decision of all the stakeholders based on his capacity and acceptability among party stakeholders.

Beyond the House of Representatives seat, the meeting also reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Radda as the party’s standard flag bearers for the presidency and governorship seats, respectively.

The stakeholders also endorsed the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, to contest for the Senate.

According to the stakeholders, both endorsements signal early preparations for the 2027 general elections, urging party loyalists to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts.

The Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency is currently being represented by Aminu Jamo Daura, while Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura is the Senator representing Katsina North Senatorial District.
