This is contained in a communiqué issued after a one day emergency meeting of the North East student leaders of the two associations held recently in Damaturu, in which they equally called on the federal government to investigate the letter of Adamawa state Governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako.

The communiqué was jointly signed by Comrade Dauda Muhammad Gombe, Secretary General of NANS, Zone ‘C’ and the National President of NUYOSS, Comrade Muhammad Baba Aji and was made available to Peoples Daily in Damaturu

“We passed vote of confidence on the three governors of the Nort-East whose states are under unnecessary state of emergency for their tireless efforts in promoting the region despite the security challenges. We are behind them and will never let you go as we say and stand firm on solidarity forever” the communiqué said.

‘We also want to extend our courageous support and loyalty to these governors for ensuring that schools are in progress and providing necessary working tools for schools in their respective states” the communiqué added.

The communiqué also called on the federal government to, as a matter of necessity, investigate Governor Nyako’s letter stressing that the letter contains much information and therefore appealed that the contents shuld not be politivised.

“The letter written by Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako should be given all due respect as we clearly understand that it contains a lot of issues that if properly utilized, not politicized as done by the federal government, will surely help to arrest both perpetrators and sponsors of this crisis” the communiqué stressed.

It also seeks answers to questions among which are: who gives insurgents military uniforms, tankers, and other arsenals? Who are the people with helicopters making supplies of all kinds to the insurgents.

The meeting with the theme: ‘The role of students in combating insurgency intellectually’ was designed to bring all students’ leaders from the region to discuss issues affecting them.
