The Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has constituted a high powered committee for the payment of N35,000 wage award to civil servants as palliatives in order to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on petroleum.
The committee is tasked with determining the financial implication of the implementation of the N35,000 wage award to the civil servants in the state.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Head of Service, Hamidu M. Alhaji, the committee is tasked with determining the financial implication of the implementation of the wage award to the civil servants including to negotiate with the labour unions on acceptable rate both to government and the labour Unions.
He stated that the committee is also expected to make appropriate recommendations to the government on what to be paid to workers in the state.
Chaired by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, the committee has 5 members, including Head of Service, Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Finance, State Chairman Labour (NLC), State Chairman (TUC), while the Permanent Secretary Establishment is to serve as Secretary of the committee.
