Sokoto state Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a case of a murder of a 21 years old by some suspected hoodlums in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Al Mustapha Sani, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), told newsmen in Sokoto on Sunday in Sokoto.
He said some yet-be-apprehend unidentified miscreants popularly known as Area Boys at the weekend had killed a 21 year-old boy, identified as Bilyaminu Yusuf.
The victim was said to be a son of a prominent elder statesman, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar Yabo, Baraden Yabo.
The incident according to an eyewitness occurred at Gawo Nama area. It was said that the deceased had on the fateful went to the area and was accompanied by nephew, one Habibu Abubakar to collect a message from one Audu who resides in the area.
However, on reaching the place, he was allegedly surrounded by some hoodlums who attacked him with dangerous objects.
Almustapha said the case was reported at Guiwa police station by the family of the deceased.
He explained that the police have commenced investigation into the case, adding that a manhunt has been set for the perpetrators.
Another account detailed that the the victim nephew had earlier been attacked few months ago by the same set of miscreants for allegedly wearing a pair of shoe customised with Peoples Democratic Party’s logo.
