Suspended Edo Lawmakers vow to attend sitting

The four suspended Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers of the Edo state House of Assembly, have vowed to attend the next sitting of the house.

The move was against a restraining Benin High Court order, preventing them from gaining entrance into the premises of the Assembly and the legislative quarters.

The lawmakers, who stated this during a press briefing at the secretariat of the PDP in Benin yesterday, said the restraining order placed on them cannot stand because there was a previous ruling which stated that the status quo be maintained.

The Minority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon Emma Okoduwa, who was flanked by other members, said the restraining order placed on them cannot stand because, there was a previous ruling which stated that the status quo be maintained.

Hon Okoduwa gave details of the deadlocked peace, while meeting 15 APC members on Wednesday sitting.

In a similar development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the House yesterday called on the Inspector-General of Police to unravel the identity of policemen who allegedly facilitated the entrance of the PDP lawmakers, including the suspended four into the chambers House last Wednesday.

He equally urged the police authorities to investigate a fake mace that was allegedly stolen and paraded by the PDP members.

House Committee Chairman on Information, Youth and Sport, Hon Kabiru Adjotor, had reiterated about the missing mace which according to him, was stolen in 2010 while addressing journalists yesterday,
