The Taraba State Government has flagged off the disbursement of N500,000 to 300 youths across the state as part of its youth empowerment program.

Governor Agbu Kefas announced this on Wednesday at a one-day capacity building workshop in Jalingo.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, Kefas said the program will be implemented in phases, with the second phase scheduled to commence in November 2026.

Kefas congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to utilize the opportunity judiciously to become self-reliant.

According to him, the money will serve as a grant to beneficiaries who excel and pass the evaluation at the end of the timeframe, but those who fail to make progress will be required to refund the money appropriately.

Kefas noted that there are no more white collar jobs and charged the youths to take the opportunity seriously.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of Taraba State Youth Development Agency, Hon. Gara Nongha, said the disbursement will not be business as usual.

He disclosed that at least one beneficiary was selected from each of the 168 wards in the state. According to him, the beneficiaries are young men and women who are already business entrepreneurs seeking to boost their sales.
