The Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation, Barr. Zainab Usman Jalingo, on Tuesday said the ongoing reconstruction of the Mararaba–Baissa road has become a symbol of effective governance under Governor Agbu Kefas.
Briefing journalists in Jalingo, the commissioner said significant progress has been recorded across key segments of the corridor, including Mararaba Didan, Didan, Baissa and Ashuku–Abong, with construction advancing at a steady pace.
She described the project as a deliberate intervention aimed at addressing years of infrastructural deficit and improving connectivity among communities in the state.
According to her, recent assessments indicate substantial progress, with heavy construction ongoing and project timelines beginning to take clearer shape.
“The decision to engage three construction companies to handle different sections simultaneously has proven effective, ensuring that work progresses on multiple fronts without delays,” she said.
Jalingo noted that the road project is already impacting livelihoods, as farmers anticipate easier movement of produce, traders expect increased commercial activities, and residents look forward to improved access to essential services.
She expressed confidence that the Mararaba–Didan section would soon link up with the Didan–Baissa stretch, while work from Ashuku to Abong continues toward completion.
“The vision is to deliver a fully motorable corridor that connects communities, stimulates economic growth and strengthens government presence in rural areas,” she added.
The commissioner emphasized that the project reflects the Kefas administration’s focus on delivering tangible results, noting that governance in the state is increasingly defined by visible outcomes rather than promises.
