A Kuje Upper Area court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has sentenced two labourers to eight months imprisonment each for burgling a house and stealing phones and electrical appliances.

Abdulkareem sentenced Stephen and Bassey, who both reside at Anguwan Lado, Kuje, following their guilty pleas.

The judge sentenced the labourers to four months imprisonment each on the charges of joint act and criminal trespass but gave them an option of N8, 000 fine, for the offences.

He also sentenced them to eight months imprisonment for house breaking and stealing, with an option of N8, 000 fine each.

The judge, however, said that the sentences will run concurrently.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Ninyio Ishaya, told the court that the case was reported at a police station by Mr. Chizoba Nwanyanwu of Anguwan Gade Extension in Kuje, on October 30.

According to Ishaya, the labourers broke into Nwanyanwu room through a damaged window and stole his plasma television set, two laptops, three Nokia mobile sets and a DSTV decoder.

He said that the labourers were arrested while attempting to escape.

Ishaya said that the offences contravened Sections 79, 348,346 and 286 of the Penal code, respectively. (NAN)
