A group, the Tinubu Impact Movement, (TIM) on Wednesday made a strong, evidence-backed case for the continuity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027, unveiling what it described as measurable gains across key sectors of national life and urging Nigerians to rally behind the ongoing reforms.
Speaking at a well-attended press conference in Abuja, leaders and directors of the movement presented a comprehensive midterm assessment of the Renewed Hope Agenda, arguing that the early, often painful policy decisions of the administration are now yielding visible dividends in governance, service delivery and citizens’ welfare.
Opening the engagement, the National Chairman of TIM, Chief Dr. Obinna Ebirim, said the review was anchored on facts, data and verifiable outcomes rather than partisan sentiment. According to him, the Tinubu administration deliberately confronted deep-rooted structural distortions inherited at inception, particularly in public finance, energy pricing and foreign exchange management.
“What our assessment shows clearly is that these were not arbitrary or reckless choices,” Ebirim said, adding, “They were corrective decisions taken in the long-term national interest, and their cumulative positive effects are now evident across multiple sectors.”
He stated that TIM would continue to identify policy gains, engage the administration constructively to do more, and close what he described as a “dangerous under-communication gap” that allows misinformation, opposition rhetoric and anti-Nigeria narratives to flourish in the public space.
Education: From Crisis to Recovery:
Speaking on education, the National Secretary of TIM and educationist, Dr. Ajibola Meraiyebu, recalled that the sector President Tinubu inherited was marked by chronic underfunding, dilapidated infrastructure and alarming out-of-school figures.
He said the trajectory has begun to change, with education funding rising from about ₦1.54 trillion in 2023 to approximately ₦3.52 trillion by 2025.
Meraiyebu highlighted the impact of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that ₦161.97 billion has so far been disbursed to 864,798 students across universities, polytechnics and colleges of education nationwide.
“This intervention alone is keeping hundreds of thousands of Nigerian students in school who would otherwise have dropped out,” he said, describing it as a landmark shift toward access, equity and sustainability in tertiary education financing.
Adding a subnational perspective, Muhammad Elzubairu, TIM Coordinator in Borno State, pointed to expanded TETFund interventions supporting the rehabilitation of lecture theatres, laboratories, hostels and research facilities. He also cited improved UBEC matching grants, teacher development programmes and curriculum reforms emphasising digital literacy, technical skills and entrepreneurship.
Economy, Public Finance and Investor Confidence
On the economy, TIM’s Director of Finance, Mr. Omasirichi Nmecha, a real estate developer, acknowledged the hardship associated with subsidy removal and forex unification but argued that the reforms were unavoidable.
He noted that the elimination of unsustainable fuel subsidy obligations, combined with foreign exchange reforms and improved revenue mobilisation, has led to higher FAAC allocations to states, greater fiscal transparency, strengthened external reserves and renewed investor confidence.
“These are the foundations of long-term economic stability,” Nmecha said, adding that inflationary pressures from the transition are being progressively moderated.
Security: Gradual but Measurable Gains
Addressing security, Edward Ndahi, Director of TIM’s Security Committee, said Nigeria before May 29, 2023, was characterised by mass abductions, terror attacks and unsafe highways. He credited sustained security sector reforms, better inter-agency coordination, enhanced intelligence capabilities and improved troop welfare for recent gains.
According to him, these efforts have resulted in reduced mass abductions, increased rescue operations, disruption of criminal networks and safer movement along major transport corridors.
Sports, Youth and Human Capital
On sports development, Okome Edrin, Director of Social and Events, said the Tinubu administration opted for institutional stability rather than ad-hoc interventions. He noted clearer funding frameworks, improved athlete welfare and stronger governance, reflected in Nigeria’s improved continental and global performances. He also praised the decision to place sports solely under the National Sports Commission, separate from youth development.
Presenting the youth development scorecard, Mr. Stanley Ochoma said the administration inherited deep skills mismatches, weak coordination and limited access to finance for young people. He pointed to expanded digital and vocational training, youth-focused credit schemes and stronger public-private alignment.
Contributing, TIM member and former Anambra State governorship aspirant, High Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, highlighted initiatives under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, including the Nigeria Youth Academy (NiYA), Yo! Health, YouthCred, and the Waste2Wealth circular economy programme. Both speakers commended President Tinubu’s decision to appoint a young minister, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, describing the ministry as one of the administration’s standout success stories.
Interior, Social Protection and Health
On Interior Ministry reforms, Otunba Akinsanya Sunday, Director of Logistics and Transportation and CEO of Akins Logistics and Corporate Services, said chronic passport backlogs, overcrowded correctional facilities and weak emergency response systems were hallmarks of the past. He cited automation reforms, correctional decongestion, stronger border management and improved fire service response times as clear improvements under Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Speaking on women, social protection and inclusion, TIM’s Jigawa-based Women Leader, Hajiya Amina Dogonyaro, said reforms have strengthened digital verification, improved cash transfer efficiency, expanded livelihood support and increased female participation in governance.
On health, Basil Eze, TIM member and APC chieftain in Enugu State, noted expanded health insurance coverage, renewed investment in primary healthcare, incentives for local pharmaceutical production and gradual reduction in medical tourism, positioning health as both a social and economic priority.
FDI, ICT and Global Standing
Addressing foreign affairs and investment, Arc. Stephen Otalike, Director of Recruitment and Mobilization, said renewed diplomatic engagement, clearer policy direction and fiscal reforms have improved Nigeria’s global image, attracted fresh FDI commitments and driven record FAAC allocations to states.
On ICT-driven governance, Hauwa Malami, Director of ICT and Public Communications, highlighted the rollout of the Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), also known as the 1-Government (1-Gov) Cloud, noting its impact on passport processing, social registers, education financing, health insurance enrollment and revenue tracking.
Call for Continuity Beyond 2027
In his closing remarks, Chief Dr. Obinna Ebirim reiterated that the gains recorded reflect a coherent, long-term reform agenda. He also referenced major strides in the solid minerals sector under Dr. Dele Alake, joking that TIM had “strategically decided to keep quiet” to avoid unnecessary external attention.
Ebirim thanked Nigerians for their patience during the early reform phase and argued that as dividends increasingly manifest across security, education, health and livelihoods, continuity has become a rational, evidence-based choice.
“The Tinubu Impact Movement remains committed to ensuring that facts, not falsehoods, guide public understanding and that Nigerians make an informed decision to sustain this trajectory beyond 2027,” he said.
