Tinubu attracted $30bn investments in 10 Months – Minister

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite has disclosed that the foreign investment driver of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s has yielded about $30 billion in commitment from foreign investors barely ten months after the inauguration of his presidency.
The minster made the disclosure Friday at the second edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing Series (MPBS) organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
Uzoka-Anite said Mr. President has travelled wide and has engaged international community on how to deepen and drive investment for the growth of Nigeria’s economy.
“I will want to announce that Mr. President’s first visit was to India where we had $14 billion dollars’ investment. One of the leading India manufacturers owners have pledged $7billion dollars or the processing.
“A month ago, the federation of India industries gave additional $ 7 billion dollar has already be materialized,” the minister said.
She further explained that, the president has also removed FXI subsidy by unifying exchange rate. “We have moved to liberalize the economy, it is now open for business and open for foreign investment.
Dr. Anite further disclosed that her ministry is working on creating a National job centre to match available vacancies in industries and businesses with available talent pool, adding that the jobs centre will also train and equip people to be job-ready.
According to her: “One such initiative is the Skill-UP Artisans program (SUPA) led by our parastatal, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). The program will empower artisans with tech-enabled skills training, licensing, access to essential toolkits, and promoting industry-standard excellence. SUPA addresses the skills deficiency among artisans and standardizes artisanal practice, the program ensures the availability of a skilled workforce for domestic industries, thereby reducing labour import dependency.
“Over a two-year period, the program aims to empower 10 million hard-working Nigerians, and reflects the government’s commitment to promoting economic development and improving citizens’ standard of living”
Earlier the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the MPB Series is solely aimed at enlightening, informing and educating Nigerians and the world, on what the President Tinubu administration is doing .
He emphasized the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire government fully understand the pains and challenges that Nigerians are going through at this time, saying that “we are working very hard to alleviate these pains and bring lasting relief to all: individuals, households and businesses.
“Just yesterday, the President met with the 36 State Governors, as part of efforts to scale-up the collaboration required to tackle the social and economic challenges confronting us”, he stated.
According to the minister, the state governments are just as critical as the federal government in the work that needs to be done.
He said: “We are asking for your continued understanding, patience and belief in the Renewed Hope vision of Mr. President. We will keep you informed about everything we are doing to make the vision a reality.
“As a government, we take our relationship with the media very seriously, and we will continue to create opportunities to engage with you, and with the Nigerian people”, the Minister said.
