President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, on the occasion of his 55th birthday, describing him as a remarkable leader whose journey from pro-democracy activism to governance has been characterized by sacrifice, principle, and compassion.
In a tribute released by the State House on Tuesday, President Tinubu stated that Governor Sani’s life provides “golden lessons” for younger generations.
He emphasized that Sani’s early commitment to the struggle for a free and egalitarian society was motivated not by personal gain but by a genuine desire to serve the Nigerian people.
The President recalled Uba Sani’s role as a student leader and pro-democracy activist during military rule, highlighting his steadfast commitment to justice, freedom, and national unity at a time when fear and silence dominated.
“In power, he has not forgotten his history of struggle; instead, it has evolved into statesmanship, guiding his conduct in office with humility, empathy, and resolve,” Tinubu remarked.
Tinubu also commended Governor Sani’s performance as a senator in the 9th National Assembly, noting his contribution to the passage of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020. Tinubu referred to this legislation as a landmark reform that enhanced financial stability, fostered innovation, supported the growth of fintech, and improved access to credit.
According to him, since taking office on May 29, 2023, Governor Sani has introduced a refreshing approach to governance, focusing on dialogue, reconciliation, and people-centered development.
He equally pointed out that Kaduna State has experienced enhanced peace and cohesion under Sani’s inclusive governance model, with areas previously troubled, such as Birni Gwari, seeing renewed security, agricultural revival, and economic activity.
“By engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders, and local communities as partners in peace, Governor Sani has fostered safety, restored trust, and laid the groundwork for sustainable development,” the President stated.
He further praised the Governor’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, industrialization, and agriculture, emphasizing that these efforts reflect a clear understanding that development must positively impact the lives and livelihoods of all citizens.
He described Governor Sani as a reliable ally of the Federal Government and a dedicated advocate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
