President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the 2026 Statutory Budget Proposal of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the House of Representatives for consideration and passage.
The proposal, contained in a letter dated August 20, 2026 and received by the Office of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, on September 24, seeks to align the commission’s spending with the Federal Government’s fiscal and development priorities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the President, the budget was prepared based on the NDDC’s revenue and expenditure forecasts, while taking into account the 2024–2026 Economic Recovery Growth Plan and key assumptions underpinning the 2026 Federal Government Appropriation Act.
Tinubu said the NDDC’s 2026 spending priorities would focus on youth empowerment, energy and power supply, education, industrial and enterprise development, healthcare, security and increased agricultural productivity.
The President said the measures were aimed at lifting a significant number of citizens in the Niger Delta out of poverty and supporting development across the region.
He urged the House of Representatives to consider and pass the proposal in a timely manner.
The submission is in line with the provisions of Section 121 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria governing the presentation and consideration of statutory budgets.
