The proponent of the NATCOM bill, Dr. Baba Mohammed, has appealed to Nigerians to continue to bear the brunt of the economic hardship occasioned by the federal government’s policies with the assurance that relief would come soon.

Dr. Mohammed, in a statement issued in Abuja, noted that Nigeria is not immune from global economic challenges.

However, he maintained that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration has taken bold initiatives, including fuel subsidy removal and diversification of the economy through the revitalization of the solid minerals sector, which exemplify that the government is making progress.

“If we can achieve this much in one year, imagine what we can achieve in the remaining years to come,” he said.

He encouraged Nigerians to continue to support this government as there are indicators that the positive trajectory will be sustained.

While thanking Nigerians for showing support to this government, the NATCOM bill proponent believes that the nation’s security and other socio-economic challenges will be surmounted, considering the steps taken so far by President Tinubu to reposition the country for the better.

“Efforts of Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, the Chief of Staff to the President Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, leadership of the National Assembly, the National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and other critical stakeholders are not unnoticed in their desire to birth a new Nigeria,” Dr. Baba Mohammed said.

He stated that President Tinubu took certain painful but necessary decisions, which ultimately would turn around the fortunes of Nigerians for good.

“President Tinubu always puts the interest of the country first in every decision he makes.”

He urged Nigerians to show patience and understanding in this administration’s efforts to address challenges ranging from the economy to security and other issues. He further appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope but to continue to support the President, whom he described as an advocate of change in the country.

“As part of President Tinubu’s national reform policies, giving assent to the NATCOM bill will immensely benefit Nigeria and Nigerians in terms of solving the problems of insecurity and other social vices confronting the populace,” Dr. Baba Mohammed re-emphasized.
