President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political influence is rooted in decades of strategic relationship-building and human capital development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, according to APC stalwart Honorable Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje.
In a press statement, Alawuje described Tinubu as one of Nigeria’s most strategic political leaders, saying history will remember him as someone who prepared intellectually, politically, and administratively for the demands of governing.
While acknowledging that Tinubu is not without flaws, Alawuje said critics often overlook his years of democratic struggle, sacrifice, and role in nation-building. He argued that Tinubu’s influence is not accidental but the result of sustained investment in mentoring political talent and maintaining alliances across the North, South, East, and West.
Alawuje said no current opposition figure matches Tinubu’s depth of political structure, loyal followership, and nationwide reach. He contrasted this with what he called internal divisions and shifting alliances within the camps of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, noting that their coalitions appear driven by convenience rather than long-term vision.
He cited James Faleke, Femi Gbajabiamila, Nuhu Ribadu, Bello Matawalle, and Muri Okunola as examples of allies who have remained committed to Tinubu across different political eras. Even former associates who once held key positions, he added, still acknowledge the opportunities they gained through his leadership.
“Tinubu’s strength doesn’t lie in noise or emotional politics. It lies in grassroots mobilization, leadership development, and institution-building,” Alawuje said.
He also said the late President Muhammadu Buhari benefited from the alliances and structures that helped secure APC’s victories and stability since 2015. Those who underestimate Tinubu, Alawuje argued, fail to see that his power is anchored in relationships and human capital rather than fleeting political trends.
With 2027 approaching, Alawuje said the opposition lacks the unity and grassroots capacity to mount a credible challenge. He urged opposition groups to focus on long-term planning rather than short-term hostility.
Alawuje concluded that Tinubu’s reelection campaign is gaining momentum as many Nigerians value continuity, stability, and experience during this phase of national development.
