The State Minister for Regional Development, Hon. Uba Maigari Ahmadu, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is driving the reconstruction of Nigeria’s Northeast, while ensuring balanced national progress.
The Minister made this declaration on Monday during the commissioning and handover ceremony of projects executed by the Federal Government through the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Yobe State.
Highlighting the President’s vision for inclusive growth, Uba Ahmadu noted the recent establishment of five additional Regional Development Commissions covering the South East, North West, South South, South West, and North Central zones.
“The federal government’s initiative aims to reduce regional disparities and accelerate sustainable development across the region,” the Minister explained.
“These projects spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure demonstrate the strong collaboration between federal and state governments in rebuilding the Northeast.”
He further revealed: “The government will construct safe learning spaces and ICT hubs while implementing the STEM-A (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Agriculture) program to prepare our youth for a technology-driven future, among other strategic initiatives.”
The Minister reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the Northeast, promising strengthened cooperation with security agencies and enhanced peace-building measures.
During the event, NEDC Managing Director/CEO Mohammed Goni Alkali announced that numerous additional projects are nearing completion, with plans underway for a second phase of commissioning.
Alkali guaranteed equitable development across all Northeast states, highlighting Yobe’s exemplary role in regional resilience and growth.
