The Tiv community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has achieved a historic milestone with the coronation of Chief Ambassador Joseph Aneh, JP, as the First-Class Chief (Or U Hemen Tiv U FCT Abuja CII).

The colourful ceremony, which drew Tiv sons and daughters from across Nigeria and the diaspora, was hailed as a unifying moment symbolising pride, leadership, and renewed cultural identity among Tiv indigenes in the nation’s capital.

In a statement issued by the President of Mdzough U Tiv, Abuja Chapter, Prince Michael Terver Kokoiwen, the coronation was described as “more than a ceremonial recognition but an affirmation of Tiv solidarity and a call to order.”

He said the installation marked a turning point for Tiv people to reinforce unity, mutual respect, and traditional values that define their identity.

“The enthronement of a First-Class Chief is not merely a cultural milestone but a call for unity and purpose among the Tiv community in the diaspora,” Kokoiwen stated.

According to him, Abuja, being Nigeria’s political and administrative nerve centre, offers the Tiv community a strategic platform to strengthen solidarity and pursue common goals.

He urged Tiv indigenes to translate their famed resilience, courage, and commitment to justice into collective development and progress.

“The coronation must be seen as a rallying point to overcome internal divisions and present a united front in national dialogue and political participation,” he added.

Kokoiwen stressed that Tiv traditional institutions remain relevant in modern governance, noting that leadership anchored on integrity and inclusiveness was vital for social harmony and representation.

He called on Tiv people across the country and abroad to regard the coronation as a clarion call to build an organised, politically active, and development-driven community.

“Unity in diaspora is not just a cultural necessity; it is a political and economic strategy for empowerment,” he noted.

As Chief Aneh assumes his revered role, members of the Tiv community expressed hope that his reign would inspire renewed trust, cooperation, and cultural pride.

“Let this moment ignite a spirit of oneness where every Tiv son and daughter commits to the advancement of the Tiv nation,” Kokoiwen said.
