Traffic jam: Attah’s Team goes tough on premises ‘aiding’ roadside trading

In continuation of its reinforced effort to reduce vehicular traffic jams on roads in the nation’s capital city, officials of comrade Ikharo Attah’s led FCT Ministerial Traffic Team went tough on business premises in Kubwa, a busy satellite area of Abuja, for purportedly serving as hideouts for roadside traders in the area.
To this end, the Attah’s Team obtained court orders to seal up two filling stations and a shopping mall in Kubwa, for allegedly contravening the city management law.
It was gathered that the officials of the Ministerial Traffic Team after securing the court order had moved in and sealed the premises of Oando and Eternal filling stations as well as a shopping Plaza at NNPC junction Kubwa.
Speaking during the execution of the seal order, Comrade Attah said the three business premises remained closed pending the time they revert to original approved land use for their premises.
He noted that the contravention by the business premises has added to the gridlock residents of the area have been facing in the recent time.
Meanwhile, our correspondent reports that before the close of work yesterday, the affected premises were unsealed, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) reached between the Team and representatives of the owners of the affected property, to ensure strict adherence to the law.
Confirming the unsealing of the property, Attach said: “What we struggled to achieve in five months was done in one day. This is coming after months of blatant refusal to obey.
“Petrol attendants, bank workers , businessmen etc were all struggling to ensure compliance by personally cleaning their business premises and removing woods and others items used by roadside traders.
‘We unsealed the properties minutes ago after the property owners and managers signed undertaking not allow any activity around their properties that would cause traffic congestion.”
