The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA ) said it has resolved to take further steps towards tackling the protracted traffic congestion at Dutse Alhaji roads, by fencing the market and sealing off all uneccassry multiple entry points.
This was revealed when the Chairman, FCT ministerial task team on traffic free flow, Ikharo Attah alongside some Engineers from the Federal Capital Development Authority ( FCDA) Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) , Department of Development Control and officials of Bwari Area Council visited the troubled spots for a pre-construction inspection.
Attah said the new development was in line with the commitment and passion of FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello to end traffic gridlock across the FCT.
He explained that the multiple entry points into the market from the main roads are sources of the disturbing traffic gridlock.
Attah opines” it is a common knowledge in planning that access to property is not allowed from primary roads.”
He added that that after the fencing work, major entry points into market would be from the roads inside Dutse Alhji community.
The Head of Enforcement and Operations at the AEPB, Mr. Kaka Bello who was part of the inspection team said decision to fence the market was on the overall best interest of millions of road users and in compliance with the approved plan for the area.
While FCDA engineers assured that the work would soon commence, officials of Bwari Area Council and Market Association have pleaded that a small entrance point be provided by the primary road.
