Worried by the continued influx of commercial minibuses into the Federal Capital city of Abuja, Director, FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), Alhaji Wadata Bodinga has reiterated that such capacity of vehicles remained banned from operating in the city centre.
Bodinga made this assertion, while playing host to officials of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers (NURTW) on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Directorate in Mabushi.
The DRTS boss particularly warned transporters to desist from violating FCT traffic regulations.
He added that the vehicles must be impounded and made to pay the stipulated fine.
Bodinga explained that it is only in the FCT’s satellite towns that such capacity of vehicles are allowed to operate, stressing that operating in any other place amounts to breach of regulation and such operator will not go unpunished in line with the provisions of the regulator.
According to him, for the minibuses coming into Abuja through Nasarawa, they are expected to turn at the Nyanya bridge as any of the operators, who go beyond the bridge will be deemed to have violated the order.
He further stressed that those driving into Abuja fr om the other parts of the northern T axis are to terminate their journey at Zuba or move to Nyanya Terminal through the Outer Northern Expressways (ONEX).
