Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna state Police Command, SP Aminu Lawan, said the driver of the truck is already in police custody, while the injured ones are receiving treatment at the hospital.

The PPRO also confirmed that contrary to speculation, only one person was killed in the accident. He also called on traders and commuters, especially at the Kano road junction to always keep away from overcrowded spots and intruding into the main road.

On what caused the accident, the police spokes person, said they are suspecting brake failure or the truck driver was trying to maneuver some traffic jams or sleeping while driving due to tiredness.  All these according to SP Lawan are allegations that the police would thoroughly investigate and charge the suspect accordingly.
