The Jigawa state House of Assembly yesterday dismissed speculations that the speaker of the house has been impeached by 22 out of 30 members.
The house sitting presided by the speaker of the house, Hon. Adamu Ahmed Sarawa and attended by 26 members debunked the rumour reported last week by a national daily, not Peoples Daily.
The House denied any attempt and condemned the speculation, added that there was no any iota of truth “there was no time such matter was raised or discussed, not talking of attempting”.
The leader of the house, Adamu Jafaru member representing Buji state’s assembly move a motion of vote of confidence on the state governor, Sule Lamido and the Speaker of the house, Honourable Adamu Ahmed Sarawa where all the members unanimously supported the motion and denied the rumour.
Defending his motion, the majority leader explained that the two leaders (Governor and Speaker) were patient, justly; honest and hard-working, led the laudable achievements during the tenure of Lamido and Sarawa.
According to him “we are passing vote of confidence on our leaders because their open policy administration, provisions of socio-economic lives of the people, inculcates discipline in to youths and civil service and above all, the provision of peace and security in the state”.
It could be recalled that there was a rumour in the state that the state’s law makers started a move to impeach the speaker for alleged growth misconduct and one man show attitude.
It was reported that the members were angered with the house leadership for his alleged dictatorship in running the affairs of the house and cornering of all the hajj seats allocated to the house as well as his regular trips within and outside the country.
