Trustfund Pensions chides NLC for Picketing its offices

The Trustfund Pensions Limited has chided Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) for picketing its offices nationwide describing the action as regrettable which was contrary to procedure for declaring industrial disharmony.
In a press statement released Tuesday in Abuja, signed by Head of Corporate Communications of Trustfund Pensions, Chinalulum C. Uzomah, it noted that industrial issues raised by the Workers’ Body were unfounded and wondered why it should embark on a picketing without establishing the fact of the matter.
According to the statement titled: “Barricade of Trustfund Pension Limited Offices by NLC, “In the early hours of today, Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the offices of Trustfund Pensions Limited in several locations nationwide were shuttered by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
“This unprovoked act is regrettable and contrary to all known procedures for declaration of labour dispute. The NLC is a shareholder in Trustfund and also sits on its Board. The issues being raised by NLC concerning workers are false because no employee of Trustfund is on contract.
“On the issue of wages, we make bold to say that Trustfund pays industry competitive wages that has just further been enhanced” the statement read in part.
“As a regulated business, we go the extra mile to ensure that all our actions are within the law and regulations guiding labour relations. We apologize to our numerous customers nationwide for the current disruptions in our services and the inconveniences it must have caused them even as we intensify engagement with the NLC to terminate this unwarranted enforcement action.
“Make no mistake, Trustfund Pensions Limited is committed to providing the best services to all its customers and will always conform to the world’s best practices” the statement concluded.
