Trustfund Pensions observes 2025 Environment Protection Day with school sensitization, tree planting, inauguration of Eco Champions

In a bid to raise awareness and deepen actions on pressing environmental matters, Trustfund Pensions Limited, a Pension Funds Administrator (PFA) has marked the 2025 World Environment Protection Day with nationwide school sensitization, tree-planting campaign, and inauguration of the trustfund eco champions.

In a press statement released in Abuja recently, signed by Head, Corporate Communications, Chinalulum .C. Uzomah, it noted the organization marked the event with a dynamic nationwide programme designed to inspire environmental responsibility among young Nigerians and deepen community commitment to sustainability.

According to the statement, “This year’s observance featured a multi-city school sensitization and awareness campaign, extensive tree-planting activities across the Federation and the formal inauguration of the Trustfund Eco Champions-a youth-driven initiative dedicated to environmental stewardship, advocacy and climate action.

“In alignment with global climate-action priorities, Trustfund Pensions facilitated coordinated interactive learning sessions on environmental protection and climate awareness, complemented by tree-planting engagements across its regional offices and partner schools. The initiative sought to nurture eco-consciousness among young learners while contributing meaningfully to re-greening efforts nationwide.

“The Grand Finale of the 2025 programme held on 26 November 2025 in Abuja at Cuddle British School and The Grit Height School, where pupils, students, teachers and the company’s representatives, including the Executive Director, Business Development and Marketing, Mrs. Eno Adetayo-Olugbemi; the Regional Manager, FCT, Mrs. Chizobam Osuoha; and the Head, Corporate Communications, Mrs. Chinalulum C. Uzomah were present for an inspiring close-out event.

“The ceremony featured hands-on tree-planting sessions, environmental pledge declarations and the induction of the pioneer cohort of Trustfund Eco Champions-young leaders empowered to champion sustainability within their schools and communities. The atmosphere was one of energy, curiosity and hope: a celebration of young minds committed to embracing their role as custodians of the environment” the statement read in part.

It informed that Trustfund Pensions reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainability, community impact and environmental responsibility as an integral part of its corporate citizenship philosophy.

“As an organisation entrusted with securing the future of millions of Nigerians, we believe it is our duty to support actions that preserve the future of our planet,” the statement stated. “Empowering young people with the knowledge and tools to act today is the most meaningful investment we can make for tomorrow” the statement concluded.
