From: Femi Oyelola in Kaduna
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has stated that Governor Uba Sani has transformed the agricultural and industrial landscape of Kaduna State within just two and a half years.
During a courtesy call to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House on Wednesday, Kyari led a delegation of Commissioners of Agriculture from the 36 states of the country.
He noted that Governor Sani has become a reference point in Nigeria’s agriculture and agro-industrial sector.
The Minister recalled that Kaduna state used to be a textile hub, primarily due to its agro-based industry, which relied heavily on cotton.
However, he emphasized that today, there is significant value addition to many staple crops in the state.
Kyari explained that Governor Sani’s efforts in agriculture align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for food security and sovereignty.
He highlighted that, beyond merely producing raw materials, the Governor is adding value to agricultural outputs and noted that Kaduna State was the first subnational area to launch the Special Agro-Processing Zone (SAPZ) in April.
