United Kingdom (UK) government has applauded the performance of Kano state governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso, in the education sector.

The acclamation was contained in a goodwill message delivered by the Country Director of its Department for International Development (DfID) in Nigeria, who was represented by its coordinator in Kano and Katsina states, Dr. Siaka Ahassan.

“We commend the big stride the Kano state government is making in education,” he said. “We are very proud of this and achievements in other sectors.”

The UK’s DfID made the observation during a three-day retreat for Kano state political office holders and other key government functionaries, held in Kaduna state.

The Head of Service in the state, Dr. Umar Shehu Minjibir, who was the organiser of the event, listed some of the welfare packages for workers to include payment of salaries on or before 25th of every month.
