The United Nations Organization( UNO) on Monday commended the Delta State Government for the Construction of a 250- bed Asaba Specialist Hospital to improve provision of health services for its citizenry.
The United Nations ( UN) Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Dr Edward Kallon who spoke with Journalists in Asaba said that the United Nations was impressed with the state government’s developmental strides in the health sector and encouraged the state government not to rest on its oars
Dr Edward Kallon said that United Nations was in the state to reinforce the partnership between the UN and the Delta State Government through the provision of support in the state’s fight against COVID 19, among others health issues.
The Medical Director, Asaba Specialist Hospital, Dr Peace Ighowese said that the neonatal unit had recorded with the success story with the set of twins that weighed 0: 35kg managed at the unit and the baby weighing 0:9kg who was brought in at 0; 65kg and doing well, adding that” The Delta State Government has invested much on the health sector and will continue to invest more on it”
Dr Edward Kallon further commended the Health Center for its high percentage coverage of immunization in 2020 despite the COVID 19 pandemic and encouraged them to share their success story with other primary Healt centers with the view to encourage them to record such successes in other facilities.
