A veteran Journalist in Benue State Rev. Oliver Ortindi Baka has frowned at religious intolerance amongst Nigerians.
He also, maintained that leadership is a collective responsibility of all citizens, adding that the failure on the part of any leadership segment is the failure of all its citizens.
Rev. Baka stated this at the launch of his book entitled, ‘The World After Covid 19 Panic’, held at the Benue Hotels at the weekend in Makurdi.
He further noted that the cause of the hydra-dreaded problems confronting the country is not the President, Governors, legislators or bureaucrats alone, but the people are also, guilty when they fail to play their part.
Rev. Baka who is also the publisher of the popular tabloid ‘Target Magazine’ in Benue State, lamented at the high level of ignorance amongst Nigerians which is promoting insecurity, corruption, religious bigotry, intolerance, extremism, ethnicity, rumor mongering, defamation of character, hatred, disunity, bitterness, rancour, anarchy, violence, falsehood and deception.
“Consequently, these are the forces militating against the unity, peace, progress and prosperity of Nigeria. The people are ignorant in nearly all the areas especially in religion and leadership which are the nexus of all humans”,he said.
Book reviewer Dr. Tyotom Keghku, a former Rector of Benue State College of Advanced and Professional Studies said the book is not only apt but religiously induced with prophetic thoughts about the Coronavirus pandemic.
He averred that the 237 page book seeks amongst to the things to change attitude as well as political ideology of Nigerians towards the Covid-19 pandemic.
While Governor Samuel Ortom represented by his Principal Special Assistant on Media Mr. Nathaniel Ikyur reminded Nigerians that the virus is not a myth but reality hence the need for them to continue to observe the World Health Organisation laid down protocols.
