Operatives of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in Gwagwalada Area Council of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has apprehended four of the six suspected notorious Armed robbers, allegedly terrorizing residents of Old Kutunku and Kaida villages in the Council, who were handed over to the Gwagwalada Divisional police Headquarters.
It was gathered that the alleged armed robbers had been operating in the area with impunity and unleashing terror on the residents of the villages, especially along Old Kuntuku – Kaida road.
Our correspondent reports that sources revealed that before the their arrest, they had stole a motorcycle belonging to one Yusuf Mai-gemu at Kaida village, about three weeks ago.
The sources further disclosed that after the first successful operation, the suspected robbers went back for the second time to rob said Yusuf Mai-Gemu of the new motorcycle he bought, in which they inflicted serious injuries on the victim ,with matches and other dangerous weapons.
However, the victim was rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) Gwagwalada, where he was admitted and treated for the injuries.
In his reaction, the victim disclosed that a combined team of vigilantes at Old Kutunku picked up four of the suspects including one of his neighbours who confessed to be the informant of the notorious robbery syndicates.
He disclosed that the four suspects included; Bingel Shaho, Bodo, Yellow and Bokolo, while the two others: Sani Bangis and Smolee are now at large.
The victim, therefore, appealed to the security agents in Gwagwalada and the FCT at large, to redouble their efforts in tackling criminal activities in the area
When contacted, the crimes unit of the Gwagwalada Divisional of Police Headquarters, the officer in charge ,who pleaded anonymity, said investigations are on to fish out the remaining two suspected armed robbers now at large.
