The Commander General of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Dr Usman Mohammed Jashun, has appealed to the Federal Government as well as the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello to provide the operational vehicles/Motorcycles to the officers of VGN to enable them combating insurgents in the country.
He also charged the Federal Government alongside the FCT Minister to erect a permanent office for the men / women of VGN in order to deter them from spending huge amount of money to rent office accommodation.
Jashun made the appeal while reading his speech on the occasion of vigilante week 2022 which took place at MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Saturday, further urged the government of the day to provide the office equipment for VGN.
He then pleaded with the state governors, ministers, senators, members of the House of Representatives as well as the local government chairmen to deem it necessary to pay stipend to the personnel of VGN so as to boost their morale at work.
He said he would not hesitate to parley with the security agencies for the sake of security challenges facing the country, pointing out that he will remain committed to the Nation-Building at all times.
The VGN Commander General, however thanked the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
In his goodwill message, the Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness Dr Yahaya Abubakar who was represented by the District Head, commended the officers of VGN for waging war against criminals across the nation, as he said he would continue to support the leadership of VGN in all ramifications.
The Guest speaker of the occasion, Brigadier – General SA Songonuga (rtd) presented a paper entitled “Small Arms and Light Weapons Proliferation and its Threat to Nigerian Internal Security”.
Meanwhile, the occasion featured the presentation of awards to some deserved personalities.
