VIO confiscates 65 vehicles over traffic rules violation

The FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) popularly known as Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) has impounded 65 for failure to heed to the laid down road traffic rules.
Director of the DRTS, Wadata Aliyu Bodinga, disclosed that the Directorate officials with the support from the police confiscated the vehicles from their owners.
Bodinga while briefing journalists during a news conference, said they are rackety and unworthy road vehicles within the Federal Capital City (FCC).
He also reiterated that the directorate would not tolerate motorists and okada riders that operate in the city center as commercial vehicles without painting or due registration.
He said: “We will not accept vehicles without due registration to operate in Abuja, some are rackety ones and we can not allow them to operate in Abuja because they will make us not to identify the wrong ones.”
Bodinga said the vehicles were impounded at Federal Secretariat, Ministry of Finance, Area II and Head of Service office, all within the central area.
According to him, the initiative was aimed at addressing incessant cases of ‘one chance’ menace in and around the Territory.
Bodinga said the exercise is the commencement of the fight against activities of suspected criminals that have been terrorising innocent residents.
“This exercise is informed by the complaints by the residents on the issue of one chance. So, with the arrest of the unpainted vehicles it will help in checkmating the suspected activities of one chance people,” he added.
