We have awarded contract for 9 township road projects-Buni

Yobe state government has in the last 18 months, undertaken the construction of nine township road projects.
The government said some of if the roads have been completed while others are on-going.
The state governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, stated this yesterday on the occasion of the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Gujba-Mutai road project.
He said the project is part of his administration’s recovery drive to rebuild communities, promote economic activities and to reclaim means of livelihood to the people.
He pointed out that the reconstruction of the 40 kilometers road would be executed under the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project while the contract was awarded to LEVANT CONSTRUCTION Limited at the cost of N6.4 billion with a completion period of 12 months.
He also revealed that there is also a commitment by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to reconstruct the Mutai-Ngalda sector of the road whic, according to him, would give the entire Gujba-Ngalda road a complete facelift to facilitate easy movement of goods and services in these areas.
He regreted that the poor state of the road over the years, had militated against exploiting the huge agricultural and economic potentials in this area.
Consequently, he stated that the reconstruction of the road would no doubt increase the volume of trade in Mutai and Ngalda weekly markets, stimulate more economic growth, improve revenue generation and boost employment opportunities and attract business investments from far and near.
“I am also optimistic that the road will attract business and investment opportunities from within and the neighbouring states in view of the rich potentials endowed in this area,” the governor stated.
He pointed out also that the project is a reflection of his government’s collective drive to post-insurgency resettlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
He therefore called on the contractor to execute the project in accordance with the dictates of the contractual agreements and specifications to ensure quality work and timely completion of the project.
He also enjoined the people of Gujba Local Government area and specifically, the communities along the road, to support and cooperate with the contractor to ensure successful completion of the project stressing that road project is a veritable tool for economic prosperity.
