From Matthew Aramunde, Lagos

The Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) has promised to change the political firmament in the country if voted into office come 2015.

This much was revealed by the party’s Lagos State Chairman, Femi Ikuomola in a chat with media men during the inauguration of the state executives at the party secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking further Ikuomola noted that the party peopled by those who are adherents of the ideologies of the late sage Chief Obafemi Awolowo has been resurrected in Lagos and has thus vowed to bring back smiles to the faces of Nigerians.

Taking a swipe at other political parties whom he alleged have brought suffering and untold hardship on the hapless and hopeless masses, he revealed that the UPN has finalized preparation at ameliorating the pains of the Nigerian masses by the provision of free and qualitative education to university level, provision of affordable accommodation, provision of employment opportunities for the teeming youths who are presently roaming the street among others.

On the issue of the ability of the party to within the short period of time before the 2015 election to galvanize the masses as to be able to torpedo the ruling party in Lagos State, Ikuomola revealed that as someone who has been at the top hierarchy of the said party, he is fully equipped to beat them to their game plan “We shall occupy the Oval House at Alausa come 2015” he enthused

In his contribution, the Publicity Secretary of the Party in Lagos, Chief Val Offor Ogbonnaya dismissed the perceived threat by other parties stressing that as true Awoist, the people of Lagos has yearned for the opportunities that his party will unleash on them by the time they assume the mantle of leadership come 2015.

He noted with glee that it was because the ruling party spied into their manifesto that promises the masses free education to university that compelled them to reduce drastically the outrageous fees they had slammed on students of various institutions in Lagos
