The Southern Kaduna Peoples’ United-Associations (SOKAPU) has sounded the alarm, warning the public about a supposed scam orchestrated by the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC) and its affiliates, who are allegedly using the Southern Kaduna Festival (SKFEST) as a platform for personal gain.

In a statement signed by Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, the National President of SOKAPU, accused the SKLC of working against SOKAPU, the umbrella organization representing the Southern Kaduna people.

According to the statement, the SKLC, led by Elder Dary Akau, has been operating a parallel organization, SOKACDA (Southern Kaduna Autochthones Community Development Associations), which is allegedly being used to undermine SOKAPU’s authority.

SOKAPU claimed that the SKLC’s actions are a blatant attempt to supplant the organization and exploit the Southern Kaduna people for personal gain.

The statement also alleged that the SKFEST, staged in 2023 and 2024, was a scheme to raise funds for the personal benefit of SKLC members, rather than for the development of the Southern Kaduna region.

SOKAPU warned the public to be cautious of individuals and groups claiming to represent the Southern Kaduna people outside of SOKAPU.
