An Estate Surveyor and Valuer ESV Dike Stanley gave reasons why owing a land is a strategy for freedom control and legacy for both individual and private owners.

ESV. Stanley stated this in Abuja yesterday, saying that land is time, secure it. Real land investors are growing quietly, stress-free and powerfully.

He explained that
“In Nigeria today, the word land is often reduced to a plot of soil, a perimeter fence, or a document with a red seal. But real estate is far more than a physical asset.
“It is a system of control. A strategy for long-term power. A key to silence in a noisy world”.
He said “I say this with confidence, not just as a valuer of land and buildings, but as a witness to the transformational impact land ownership has had on families, retirees, business owners, and even young people in their 20s who chose to think ahead”.
He reiterated that land is not just about where you stand, it’s about what you control.
He explained that Land is Time: Buy It, and You Buy the Future.
“We often say ‘the future is uncertain’ but the people who own land are not as worried. Why? Because land secures time.
He emphasized that “If you own the land you live on, you don’t fear rent hikes. If you own land in a developing area, you have access to future capital. If you own multiple parcels, you can sell one tomorrow and solve a problem—without borrowing a dime”.
TIME
Time, in the hands of a tenant, is dictated by landlords.
But in the hands of a landowner, time is an asset.
Consider This:
• Landowners have fewer fears about retirement
• Landowners aren’t shocked by yearly inflation
• Landowners build, rebuild, or lease—on their own terms
“The wise don’t just invest in timelines—they invest in titles.”

Land Is Power: Ownership Is Voice
The more land you own, the more power you have. You may not be in government, but when you own a corner of the city, you influence decisions.
• You can vote with your assets.
• You can negotiate with developers.
• You can resist displacement.

Tenants don’t get consulted when a road is expanding. But landlords do. Property owners become stakeholders, not just spectators.
In many areas of Lagos and Abuja today, those who bought land in so-called “bush” 10 years ago are now collecting rent from tenants who drive Benz and wear luxury labels.

Land Is Silence: Quiet Wealth is the Best Kind

There’s a kind of peace that comes with ownership.
Land doesn’t ring your phone.
It doesn’t go missing.
It doesn’t trend on Instagram—but it works.
While many people are chasing noisy investments that promise overnight returns, real land investors are growing quietly, stress-free.

Think about it:
• Stocks fluctuate.
• Crypto crashes.
• Currency loses value.
• But land appreciates in silence.

You don’t need to refresh your phone to see land gain value. Just wait. And if you picked right, it will.

Real Estate Isn’t Just Investment — It’s Identity

I’ve worked with top-tier banks, international firms, and regular people who made smart property decisions. The one thing they have in common? They didn’t just buy land. They bought certainty.
They didn’t just own documents. They owned options:
• The option to build or lease
• The option to develop or flip
• The option to retire in peace
In the real estate game, ownership is not about ego—it’s about exit. It’s about having something you can fall back on, build upon, or pass on.

What You Should Be Asking
If you’re still renting or delaying land purchases, it’s time to rethink the question. Don’t ask:

“Is this land cheap?”

Ask instead:
• “Where will this land take me in 5 years?”
• “What future risk does this land remove?”
• “How does this land position me to lead, not follow?”

Because in the end, land ownership isn’t just about square meters. It’s about freedom per square meter.
Final Thoughts from The Celebrity Valuer
When I see young people invest in plots in Epe, Sangotedo, and parts of Ogun State, I don’t just see transactions—I see time purchased, power secured, and peace stored up.
Land is the only asset that you can leave untouched for years, and it still works in your favor.

“You’re not just buying land. You’re buying silence in your old age. You’re buying dignity for your children. You’re buying space—on earth, and in the economy.”

He concluded by saying that while others are chasing visibility, choose to chase value.
