In a decisive shift within the South-South political landscape, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has signaled a unified front for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election ambition, following the public return of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara to his political camp.

Addressing reporters in Abuja Tuesday, Wike framed the reconciliation not as a personal concession, but as an inevitable realignment dictated by political reality.

He brushed aside talk of “forgiveness” or moral victory, casting the move as a pragmatic choice aimed at political survival and regional stability.

“In politics, there is no sin. “If someone realizes they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that.

What matters is recognizing that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision,” Wike asserted.

The minister emphasized that the reconciliation fully re-establishes the formidable coalition that secured Rivers State in previous elections.

By sealing the rift with his political successor, Wike aims to lock down the oil-rich state’s voting bloc long before the 2027 election cycle heats up.

“He has publicly stated that he has returned to where he started, and we receive him with an open mind.

“We will all work together to ensure that we deliver the votes President Tinubu needs for his re-election,” he noted.

With the internal rift settled, Wike declared the platform fully open to former political foes and allies alike, signaling that the primary focus now shifts to building an unbeatable coalition ahead of the next national polls.
