Wike Urges Loyalty Ahead of PDP National Convention, Warns Defaulters of Sanctions

Date:

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain loyal to the party ahead of its National Convention scheduled for March 29 to 30.

Wike warned that members who fail to demonstrate commitment to the convention risk being sidelined within the party.
He gave the warning on Monday during the party’s 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja.

According to him, loyalty and active participation in the convention are critical to strengthening the party’s unity and direction.

“After this NEC meeting, anybody that doesn’t show commitment to the convention should not return afterward to claim full participation. I will not accept that,” Wike said.

The minister also emphasised the need for unity within the party, urging its leadership to intensify reconciliation efforts while maintaining sincerity among members.

He cautioned against engaging in avoidable political conflicts, noting that politics requires careful strategy and should not be treated as a business venture.

“A fight you can’t handle, don’t start it. Politics is not contract work; they are two different things. I did not join politics to be a contractor but to exercise power,” he added.
