Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has been charged to consider 40% inclusion of women in his Green Economy Agricultural program.
The call was made by participants at a gender policy workshop on New Niger State Gender/ Strategy Implementation Plan for Gender Focal Officials of MDAs and Private Sector Groups.
The event was organised by the state Ministry for Women Affairs and Socia Developmentl with support of Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Development for Decent Employment in Nigeria.
They lamented that women have been left behind in virtually every sector of the economy, compared to their men counterpart.
In a paper presentation, the GIZ Policy Adviser, Abu Ahmadu said the event was organized for relevant stakeholders who are expected at the end of the workshop to create awareness at the various local government areas on the state’s gender policy.
