World Press Freedom Day: Gov. Ortom decries harsh media environment in Nigeria

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has decried the harsh environment under which the Nigerian media operates and urged the Federal Government to consider subsidies and import waivers for media equipment.

He opined if this is done, it will help the media industry survive the harsh economic environment and put it in a better stead to contribute immensely to the socio- economic and political development of the country.

Governor Ortom who stated this in a press statement signed by his Press Secretary Nathaniel Ikyur commended the courage and resilience of the Nigerian Press in the sustenance and promotion of the tenets of democracy in the country.
