The Kaduna State Government has commenced refurbishment and renovation of Sir Patrick Yakowa Memorial General Hospital Kafachan 20 years after its last renovation.
Speaking to newsmen yesterday, the Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Paul Yohanna said the refurbishment and renovation executed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration is to address the issues of design faults, drainage, patient flow, staff flow, water collection, infection prevention compliance or non-compliance, energy, and ventilation.
He added that the refurbishment and renovation strategy which commenced in April 2024 was authorized by the Governor.
A patient, Mary Chat expressed her gratitude to God for giving Kaduna state, Governor Uba Sani who decided to renovate the hospital after failed promises by the past administration.
According to her, Sir Patrick Yakowa Memorial General Hospital means a lot to the people of Kafachan and its environs because it is the only facility that serves them as a tertiary facility.
Similarly, John Mordecai described the ongoing renovation work at the hospital as “monumental, timely and well-conceived,” adding that the facelift would further enhance and increase patronage of the government hospital.”
Given this, the Forum requested that Digital Innovation Park which was built to support Mr. President’s 3 Million Technical Talent Accelerator (3MTT) be relocated to Kebbi State since it was looted and set ablaze in Kano.
According to Mr. Abdulsalam, “It will be a grave injustice for the federal government to consider rebuilding such a strategic facility in a state where the governor is working at cross purposes with the federal government and does not have a grip on his citizens.”
He stressed that considering the youthful population, economic viability, and eagerness for job creation by the governor, relocating the project to Kebbi will boost the economy of the state and increase its internally generated revenue by over ₦300 billion.
The Group therefore called for more intervention projects in Kebbi State noting that Governor Nasir is sincerely working to lift his people out of poverty and suffering.
“A cursory look at what is happening across the country will reveal a glaring lack of commitment by Governors whose states have become hotbeds of this barbaric protest as their citizens have become vulnerable to the deception of the bloodthirsty protest organizers.

“Contrary to what is happening in other states across the federation, Kebbi State remains a model, thanks to the dedication and commitment of the Executive Governor, Comrade Dr. Idris Nasir.

“Dr. Nasir Idris therefore deserves commendations for upholding the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda and aligning his state to take advantage of all the interventions of this current administration.

“It should be noted that what the Executive Governor of Kebbi and a few other governors have done could have been replicated in other states as the allocation available to state governments all over the federation has doubled following the courageous removal of fuel subsidy regime by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We, therefore call on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to go after governors that have decided to feed fat on the huge allocations coming from the federal government rather than using them judiciously to provide succor and comfort for their citizens.”
