Yelutide: NGO to unveil database scheme for drivers nationwide

As part of its measures to ensure sanity in the roads as well as forestall sanity during the yuletide season and after, a known Nongovernmental Organization(NGO) known as Driver’s Welfare Club of Nigeria has said that, it ready to launch a voluntary database scheme for drivers who are its members nationwide.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, the National President/Founder of the NGO, Comrade Monday Elimigbe said the scheme when operational will provide health care insurance to all drivers and their families.
Comrade Elimigbe while reiterating his NGO’s determination to make indecency and touting among drivers history in the country also stressed the need to give drivers a focus, purpose and umbrella for effective service delivery in the country.
The Director of Transport Unit, University of Abuja, Engr Jude Nwabueze who also during the event commended the NGO for their vision and mission through which drivers status in the country will be upgraded positively.
Engr Nwabueze further spoke extensively about positive impacts being made by the Abuja University through reforms geared toward drivers upgrade promising a workable partnership with the club.
In his address, Femi Adegbami who represented Healthcare Ltd at the event disclosed that drivers enrolled in the scheme have reasons to sleep with their two eyes close because of payment flexibility.
According to him, his organization takes care of health needs of registered members including members of his immediate family.
The official unveiling of the National Drivers Database Scheme (NDDS) which is billed to take place morrow in Abuja according to our source is also considered a warehouse and umbrella in which the affairs of all drivers in Nigeria are x rayed by the NGO with a view of providing a very significant support in no small measure to better the lot of drivers as well as help government to regulate the excesses in the driving sector as a noble profession.
