Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, has said that he, alongside his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can never be intimidated by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), saying if they try to do, it would be “fire for fire”.
He stated this yesterday at the flag-off of his 2015 governorship campaign held at Umar Yar’Adua indoor sport hall in Kaduna.
According to him, recent indices have shown that the opposition especially, the APC, has always shown as if they have the monopoly of violence and it is time to call them to order by warning them that they would be given a taste of their cup of tea if they continue.
“Report reaching us shows that when PDP members went out to campaign in places like Zaria and Angwan-Kanawa, they were attacked by touts sponsored by the APC, but it is time they know that we are ready for them. Our silence was never a sign of weakness.
“But let me challenge you, if you are true biological sons of your father, come out and attack us when we are going out on our campaign and see if we will not retaliate.
“If you want to destroy or burn any of our party member’s property, your own will be the first to be destroyed. So the choice is yours.
“The fact that we keep quiet does not mean we do not know what is on ground. Your principal partner, who is contending against me, in his Curriculum Vitae, we have shown that he is not from the state. So he should go back to his home state and contest.
“When he was a minister of the FCT, which was higher than a governor, what did he do for the state? It was the same office he headed that the present occupant from Bauchi State is heading and he came and built a mufti-million naira mosque for learned Islamic cleric, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi.
“I throw it as open challenge to him because I am from Zaria and he also claimed to be from Zaria, to come out and show his contribution to the development of the town. It is high time they think wise and call their supporters to order”, he said.
