The Yobe State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has signed a financing agreement and memorandum of acceptance with community and farmer group leaders for the disbursement of Community Revolving Fund (CRF) loans to 101 farming communities across the state.
The official launch was held in Damaturu, with participants from 37 communities across seven local government areas in Yobe Zone A. Similar signing ceremonies are scheduled for Potiskum and Gashua, covering Zones B and C, on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Representing the Commissioner for Environment and Chairman of the ACReSAL State Steering Committee, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, was Alhaji Garba Tahir, Co-Chair of the Technical Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Commissioner emphasized agriculture’s crucial role in Yobe’s economy, calling it the backbone of the state’s development and the mainstay of its population.
He noted that Governor Mai Mala Buni had officially launched the CRF loan initiative on January 25, 2025, following a successful pilot phase involving 10 communities.
