The Yobe State Government has taken a significant step toward integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into governance to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

During his opening remarks at the Artificial Intelligence Workshop held at Bricks Point Hotel, Damaturu, the Director of the Biomedical Science Research and Training Centre (BioRTC), Dr. Mahmoud Bukar Maina, stated that the event brought together top civil servants to explore how emerging technologies, particularly AI, can improve governance.

Dr. Maina emphasized that the workshop aims to equip decision-makers with AI tools and strategies to tackle real-world governance challenges.

“AI is no longer a distant aspiration—it is a transformative tool for improving planning, monitoring, and service delivery,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for his unwavering commitment to scientific innovation.

“His Excellency’s support has been instrumental in sustaining our summer school activities over the past five years, culminating in this pivotal AI workshop.”

Dr. Maina also highlighted Yobe State’s recent achievements, including partnerships with global organizations like the Wellcome Trust and recognition in a leading U.S. journal.

“Our state (Yobe) is now a model for scientific investment worldwide—a testament to Governor Buni’s visionary leadership.”

“This sustained investment in digital literacy has positioned our state as a hub of innovation on the global stage,” Dr. Maina added.
