The Yobe State Government and the Qatar Charitable Organisation, a non-profit based in Doha, Qatar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of community projects across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The projects include Friday Mosques, motorised boreholes and hand pumps and, subsequently, schools and hospitals.
The MoU was signed in the afternoon today at the Yobe Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro Abuja.
According to the MoU, which was signed on behalf of the state government by the Chief of Staff to H.E Gov. Mai Mala Buni, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Gashu’a and the SSA Legal Matters Barrister Ahmed Goniri and on behalf of the Qatar Charitable Organisation by Mr. Hamdi El-Sayed Abdu, its executive director, all the projects would be provided by the Qatari organisation free of charge.
The Yobe State Government, on its part, would provide the land, in each of the 17 local government areas, where the projects would be cited.
H.E Governor Buni thanked the Qatar Charitable Organisation for the gesture, saying as a state just recovering from the devastation of Boko Haram, Yobe would benefit from immensely from the projects to be built by the organisation.
The governor, who noted that peace has continued to return to the state, assured that the state government would provide all the support needed to ensure the success of the MoU.
H.E Governor Buni added that his administration would continue to seek partnerships with local and international organisations in its quest to improve the living conditions of the people of the state.
Mr. El-Sayed Abdu assured that his organisation would mobilise to the state to begin construction work as soon as the sites where the projects would cited have been identified and provided.
The Qatar Charitable Organisation has provided its services to 17 states across the country so far, including Sokoto, Niger, Cross Rivers, Taraba and Borno States.
